This book can be considered a success and a failure in various ways. The Catcher In The Rye does not follow a traditional plot structure, with no true climax or resolution. While there is characterization of Holden, the author only shows a glimpse into Holden's story and the book is written from an unusual perspective, which makes Holden seem aware of the reader. The perspective from which one reads The Catcher In The Rye is in the form of the chaotic thought process of Holden's mind, in almost a way of stream of consciousness. The overall book is not written in the way of any other book, but the ideas and events throughout the book could be considered typical or expected. The hype behind the book could almost be considered overrated in the overall topics the book covers, but the notable classic is not like any other book and greatly allows for the reader to draw their own conclusions about Holden. The Catcher In The Rye is a classic piece of literature that will never be forgotten.

Theme: One whose childhood experiences cause trauma that affect all aspects of oneself, may separate themselves from others and become apprehensive towards even those closest to you.
